Head Coach – Angie Benson

Angie Benson has been involved in lacrosse as a player for the past 10 years, and this is her first year coaching at Archbishop McCarthy. While at Martin County High School, she was selected as a High School All American her junior year and was named to the all-district, all-region, and all-league First Teams. She continued her lacrosse career in college starting as the goalie in both her freshman and sophomore years for Towson University, an NCAA Division 1 program. She was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie of the Week after posting 13 saves in her first two games, earned CAA Defensive Player of the Week twice in her freshman year, and IWLCA National Player of the Week after allowing just a combined nine goals in two CAA road wins. She rounded out her freshman year by being named to the CAA All-Rookie Team by holding 6 of 20 opponent to single-digits on the scoreboard, first  Towson University Tiger freshman goalie since 2009 to win at least 10 games in her rookie campaign, finishing the year  with 101 saves, a 6.93 goals against average and a .439 save percentage for the year. She was ranked among the Top 10 goalies in the nation the entire season, and among the Top 50 in the nation for save percentage. Her sophomore season began as a Preseason All-CAA player and was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week after combining for 17 saves in two consecutive wins which helped the Tigers clinch a spot in the CAA Tournament. At the end of her sophomore season, the Towson Tigers ranked among the top 20 in the nation for scoring defense, among the top 20 in the nation for goals against average and save percentage, finishing the year with 123 saves, 20 ground balls and four caused turnovers.
